Well its been a while since i last wrote in my blog (just not a very good blogger) ...... A few updates .... got Bigbet bankroll up to $180 ... haven't been playing much on it as i have been trying other sites .... but i play certain games on it ... stopped going for the bonus .... you really need to be playing cash to clear the points and i am just not a good enough cash player and dont get as much enjoyment out of playing cash ... so using this now to play small mtts and bounty sng .... but as im busy on another site i only get to play there once or twice every couple of weeks .... but as long as its growing i dont mind

Had a big self discovery recently ..... my new thing has been joining a staking site .... wanted to see what it was all about and would it be of benefit to me ..... and i thought i could use this to help me get a bankroll on pokerstars .... Was down to my last $2.20 when i Joined .... anyway got a couple of $2.00 stakes to play the .25c 45seater sng made a small profit on them and paid back winning share and kept my share .... plus had fun .... Then i won another $2.00 stake to do with what i liked ... so decided on a bankroll builder over the month of March to finish the 10th of April ... plan was to play .25c 45 seaters till i hit $10 then move up to 9 seater $1.20 sng and keep moving up levels as i see fit till i reach $100 ...... optimistic of me and wasn't expecting to get anywhere near it ..... but to get the stake i had to come up with a plan and stick to it ....... well first couple of weeks was tough going as i couldnt get time to play ... Family commitments and things .. but i managed to get to the $10 mark ... changed to $1.20 sng ........ and this is where i found out something interesting .... im quite good at these .... haven't played sng regularly .... being playing mtts and trying to work on my cash games .... and while doing this i have been changing the way i play .... turns out it has a good effect on my sng play ... got the $10 up to $30 and after a discussion with my staker started playing $3.40 sng and have now got up to $64 ...... also decided to extend the stake till the end of April as i want to try out the $5 and $10 games and see how i cope ....

This stake has me quite excited .... if i do as well on the $5 and $10 levels and keep hitting the money at the same rate i should be able to make a weekly income on playing poker

But best of all it has shown me i should be concentrating my time on these not the cash or mtts .....Will update in a couple of months and let you know whether i can win at the higher levels and whether im keeping the same in the money rate ....

Well my $10 bankroll has now grown to $158 ... Have cleared the next level (another 400 points) got $35 for that ... now have to clear 750 points to get more cash ... have 100 points done .. so i am very happy so far ... getting points is the slowest part as i am playing small tourneys and small cash tables but no rush ... even managed a Royal Flush at the weekend and Bigbet paid me 100 times the big blind for it .. pity i was only playing at the 2c4c tables ... but every little helps

This is my favorite hand which I played recently at a 5c 10c cash table... two limper's ... I raise to 30 and the next player calls .... the two limper's fold ....Flop a full house .... bet out 60c as I had raised and get a call ......... check the turn to see if he has anything and to reraise if he bets... he bets 91c so I reraise to $1.84 and he calls...... on river I decide to go for the max and push all in for $10 and he calls giving me a nice pot of $32

Sometimes when playing cash games you get a great flop ....... in this hand i was first to raise and put in a minimum raise (2c 4c cash table)pre flop, got two callers.... i checked A,K bet and A,J reraised all in i then pushed and A,K calls...my trips hold up and I win a nice pot

Busy Busy Busy

Busy lately but not with poker, started a course during the week, manual and computerized accounts, so that is keeping me from my poker, but im getting to play a bit. My experiment on the 5c 10c tables was fun but i ended up loosing that money and had to return to the 1c 2c tables. But I still have €20 so I going ok, just means I'm back to the 1c 2c tables again for a while. Still have my bankrolls from pokerinside so thats good news too. As you can see joined Bankroll Mob there is still one bankroll with them I can get so I will have that shortly. Its a pity though they offer so many bankrolls but when I started playing poker 3 years ago I downloaded loads of poker sites to try them out not realizing I could get free money bankrolls to them through websites like Bankroll Mob and Pokerinside, so a lot of the offers with Bankroll Mob I can't avail of. So if you are new to poker don't make the same mistake as me get these bankrolls before you down load different poker sites. I have also found another bankroll site got signed up and have got the all clear just waiting for the poker site I registered with for the bankroll to clear and then I will have another free money poker bankroll of $25 plus there is a couple of other bankroll offers with them I will be able to apply for. Quick update on my experiment, haven't got to play much yet but I have managed 3 separate sessions.

Session 1 played two tables at 5c 10c and sat down with $8.00 per table finished with $7.24 on one table and $9.39 on the other
Session 2 played on 1 table at 5c 10c and sat down with $8.00 and finished with $9.68
Session 3 played on 1 table at 5c 10c and sat down with $8.00 and finished with $26.50
Over all finished up $24.81
Now Have $49.81 to play at the 5c 10c table, so I am going to continue at them and unless I loose this I am going to stick with this level for a while. If I do loose this I have 22 euro also in my account and will go back to the 1c 2c tables.
Also any weekly pay back (which is over $3 at the moment for this week ) will be put with the money for the 5c 10c tables as well as the money if I clear the Betmost bonus (need to hit 500 points to get $5 have just under 300)

So how have I found playing at this level, well to be honest its not as difficult as I thought, once I know that I have the money and can afford to play at this level its being quiet relaxing, plying my normal game just not calling as many raises as I did at the 1c 2c level, and finding I'm getting more of my own raises through when I'm representing a bigger hand than I have.

A little experiment

Wow Thursday already, I was a bit unfortunate the other day I entered a mtt on pokerstars $1 entry, I was just after getting back from a garage after leaving my car in to get the wipers fixed and had to go back a 4:00 that day to pick it up, so around 10 in the morning I started this tourney, 15 min blinds and around 2000 entrants, but I didn't realize how long it would take, and around 4:00 I was in 17th position out of 30, in a comfortable position with just over 200,000 chips and blinds only 3,500 7,000 and I had to leave. So I decided to gamble on the next decent hand I got, which was a pair of 8s with a raise into me I pushed all in and got called by K,K who won the hand. I suppose this happens now and again to all of us when we play at home life gets in the way of a tourney we are playing.
As for my Betmost account thats still growing slowly got it up to 22 euro plus received my first weekly payback directly into my account on yesterday, so feeling good ........ roll on the next pay day.

As for my little experiment I didn't get to play much yesterday took a trip to Dublin Zoo with my family and had a lovely day. But when we go home last night i decided to play a couple of $5 stt 27 players on pokerstars and any profit i would transfer to Betmost and try a bigger cash level, well I lost one and came second in the other making me $36 giving me a profit of $25 so I am going to try playing at the 5c 10c level with just this and see how I get on and see how many payback nibs I make at this level.

Another session another Dollar, Yep its slowly growing, had another cash session last night, just played one table as I was playing the $2 $8000 guaranteed tourney on poker stars, went well got the $2 i sat down at the table at up to $6 but then hit nothing for an hour and lost about $1.50 so quit while I was ahead.
Got 7 nibs for yesterdays poker giving me $1.12 so if I continue like that for the week I should make roughly $5 from this, cant complain about that.

As for how my $2 mtt went with poker stars, well out of over 7,000 I finished 30, so close but in terms of winnings so so so far considering I got $25 and first place got a cool $1,800, its hard loosing so close but I'm optimistic I know with a little bit of luck I can win this some day. Have to put it down as a regular game to play at least once a week as I have only played it twice and have made the money twice, its just the time its on at is not the best for me.

Reloaded and Happy

Well finally lost my free bankroll, had some bad beats and played badly too. But I have reloaded, put in another $20. When I started first I had no intention of doing that as I play on poker stars, but considering the same play on poker stars would have left me with a loss of 10 Euro and a few ffp points, with pokerinside I have a loss of a free 10 euro bankroll but a profit of $2.88 from the weekly payback from nibs earned, (plus I have the points with Betmost ) and I have the tokens to pokerinside freerolls as well, and more on the way.

So this Wednesday that $2.88 will be added to my new bankroll, and I played a couple of sessions this morning, lost $2.70 on the first, made $4 on the second and broke even on the third so I am up $1.30 plus I made another 5 nibs giving me a further $0.80 cents for next weeks payback ( looking to beating last weeks total pay back).

Other than that played my first freeroll token last night, unfortunately had K,Q beaten on the river after making 2 pair on turn (King on flop Queen on turn) beaten by player who made two pair on river with Ace on flop and 10 on river, and then got Knocked out when my raise all in with Q,Q got called by two players who had A,J and flopped a A and Hit a J on the river.

Played a $2 mtt on pokerstars $8,0000 guaranteed there was 7000 players and I came 586th winning me just over $4 over $1,500 for first place, maybe one day.

Self controll is difficult

Haven't gotten the chance the last couple of days to play much, family commitments and no internet connection yesterday, but when I did I lost a bit more of my bankroll to playing stupid, I find it hard to not get into confrontaions with a player who is raising every second hand, I know he has nothing but when I call I end up hitting nothing as well and usually loose to some raggy pair they make, and yet if I sit at a table where there is no player like this playing I usually end up making a profit.
On a more positive sat down for a hour to-day and managed to get back what I lost so all is not lost, and now I have come up with a game plan.......... in future I will change tables if I have someone on the table playing like this, and see how that works out.
Overall very happy with the way things are going..... as I said I was never a cash player before joining pokerinside, and I really thought the bankroll would last me 2 days tops, so to still have it is great, plus the points payback is due next Wednesday, which is over the $2 mark now plus i have also being given tokens for freerolls with $500 guaranteed prize funds and max players only 500 so might have more to cheer about.

A Hard day

Well yesterday was a hard day had numerous beats that has dropped me down to 6 euro. All of them when i had big hands, Two straights beaten, one had k high straight only for another player to have ace high another beaten on the river when the other player made a full house, k high flush beaten by ace high and then to cap things off get K,K and the first person to act with the biggest bankroll on the table pushes all in, I call he turns over Q,Q and a Q comes on the river. Oh well just have to work hard at it today and turn things around. On a brighter note as I got the custom payback for points put into place from pokerinside I have $1.44 due to me the next pay day, and as its only Wednesday morning i should probably make more by then.

So Why Poker

So why do I play poker, family and friends were a little worried when I first started playing poker they naturally thought I would become a gambler and spend all my money on poker. Its a perception that a lot of people have about poker players.
For me though I just love the game and the different varieties of poker games plus I like having a hobby that can make me money. Before discovering poker I discovered photography, I took this up as a hobby and now people pay me to take photos, I have even done a few weddings. So when I discovered poker a couple of years ago it suited me ..... a hobby that you can make money from, and even though I am not winning much at the moment I have still made far more than what I put into it, I estimate I deposited roughly 300 euros over 2 and a half years and taken out over1,400 euros so I cant complain.
Not only that theres always the chance i will win a satellite into a really big tourney and win or satellite through too the WSOP and win there. So for a hobby it has a lot to offer and huge potential.
Back to the free bankrolls again what other hobby gives you free money to play with. About 5 years ago I was big into playstations, and spent hours playing games, wasted time really and an expensive hobby as the price of games would break a bank.
So looking forward to many more years playing poker, and living the dream of one day winning a big tournament (maybe the Sunday million on Poker Stars thats not to big an entry fee plus there is always the satellites to it ).
But for now going to keep plugging away, build up my bankroll, find more free money on the net and grow that too.

Steady play paying off

Well went back to playing smart and careful and I am climbing again. Reached 19.76 Euro by the end of last night, just avoided all the aggressive bluffers and only played them when I had a hand. It ment having to fold a lot on flops but when i did hit they payed me as the don't like to fold. My way of playing dosent make much but I can usually leave the table up a $ so if i get 3 tables up and running and play for 30min to a hour I should make about $2 to $3 as long as I dont tackle the aggressive players. But this can be difficult as I like to get stuck in and fight it out with them. But when I do my stack goes up and down and I cant guarantee making any profit. I think having a goal of building this bankroll and seeing how big I can get it playing cash games has really helped my play. As before I would generally have blown this money away trying to be aggressive with the other players who push me on the table. But as I am now thinking of building a bigger bankroll I just let them bully and wait for the hands that I know are winning and hit back then.

Changed my play and suffered

Got a bit eager yesterday, after doubling my bankroll got a bit aggressive on a early session yesterday and managed to loose 8euro. Had to stop playing for a couple of hours to steady myself. Thankfully I managed to recover a bit later, but still had to work hard as a couple of beats last night when I was playing well set me back but within a space of 5min i managed to leave that session up 1 dollar after suffering to beats that had knocked me down $4.

So from now on going to try and stick to my normal playing form. Even though it means my bankroll gets bigger slowly, its better than loosing a big chunk and having to rebuild again.

Up down Up playing cash poker

Well just finished another rollercoaster session of cash poker, Started off with one player at the table sitting down with a dollar and pushing all in every hand, but managed to get all in against him with a pair of 7s, he had A,K and another caller had 4,4 ..... my 7s held up. He reloaded and started going all in again, so when I got A,Q and raised he pushed with J,Q and hit a J. But shortly later he pushed all in with over $2 and got called by a player who had 9,9 and went on to win the hand when he hit another 9 on the flop. The very next hand he pushes his last 37c in only to run into me with Q,Q and that ended him playing at the table.

So I was going well with over $4 but that changed fairly quickly when i flopped trip 6s only to run into another player who flopped them too but with a better kicker and a few hands later had K,K all in against the same player preflop only to find him holding A,A.

Down to 43c i sat and waited patiently. Got back up to 80c when i raised the player to my left (who was a pain always reraising my raises) but got all my chips in with A,A to his A,J and doubled up again. And a few hands later managed to get all my chips in again pre flop with the same player while I was holding A,A to his pair of 10s and another double up bringing me back to over $4 which is where I finished up.

Just finished a short cash session and have just reached the 20 Euro mark, thats the first bit of free money i have ever doubled up with (actually the first i managed to hold onto)
Hit a straight on river bet it and got reraised all in by someone who hit a lower straight on the river, plus i gave someone a bad beat on the river after getting all my chips in with the loosing hand. Now my next goal in to reach the 30 Euro mark. Will probably try a couple of 2c 4c tables and see how I get on my speed things up a bit.

Just finished a nice little cash session, sat down with $2 left with $9.15. had a bit of a bad run earlier so this got my bank roll back up... now have 18.61euro in my Betmost account .... so still building.

Had a couple of really nice paying hands ...... a new player sat down at my table with $2 his first hand raised to 4c so i called + about 2 others. Flop comes10,K,Q and he being first to act he pushes all in .... I had J,9 in my hand so had to call, he turns over K,3 against my straight so that was nice. only about 10min later after he reloaded everyone folded around to him in the small blind and he called, I was holding A,A and raised to Twelve c to which he called........ flop comes K,K,10 and again he pushed all in...... i thought for a few sec and decided to call........ and again i had him, he pushed all in with 10,4 off suit.

Just a quick post about me and poker. I have been playing a couple of years now and love it, I have had some nice wins that make all the losses worthwhile, in the couple of years playing i have roughly won and taken out around the $3,000 mark, so as hobby's go it has to be one of the best.

My main poker site that I play on at the moment is Poker Stars, but I will be playing a lot now on Betmost as I try to build up the bankroll i received from Pokerinside. And also work on building my Pacific Poker Bankroll.

I am going to use this blog to talk about my poker wins and losses and to track my progress with my Betmost and Pacific Poker bankrolls.
I got my $10 bankroll from Pokerinside on the 20th of August 2009 and after playing roughly 1,241 racked hands of cash poker at 1c 2c i have increased this to 17euro (my account is set up in euro). Not a huge amount but before joining I was never a regular cash player, and when I did play cash I was a bit reckless. But I have decided to take playing cash more serious and see what I can achieve.
With the Pacific Poker bankroll I started 24th of August 2009 with $38.00 and now have only $26.58 (had a bad session this morning) and again playing 1c 2c cash tables.
